Lantern Hours

Painted from the Vietnam trip, at the hour the lanterns come on and the canal stops being water and becomes a second street made of light. Nothing in the picture is lit from inside except the reflections, which is the whole reason it exists: the lanterns only hang there, it is the water that does something with them.
